Climbing Trees

Em made two new friends this afternoon.  We took the dog for a walk when I got home from work and as we passed by a street around the corner from us there was a little girl sitting in a tree.  I told Em she could go say hi.  Em spent the next twenty minutes climbing this great tree with lots of low branches.  The little girl called her sister out.  Though M couldn't have been more than 8, her sister was six.

I love this about where we live.  Everytime I start pining for California, something like this happens.  A great, unstructured kid moment.  Is it really so rare in California?  I think the difference is that we are deffinately not in a city, only barely a suburb.  Lots of SAHM, so lots of kids out and about.

Anyway, it felt like a good day, just because of watching Em climb and swing on the branches of a tree.

When we walked back home, Em said "Mom,  I found a maple syrup tree!"  Her hands were all sticky with sap.

I think we will definately have to pass that way again with a camera in hand.
