Quick Chicago Trip Updates

  • We are safely home.
  • The dog is home, and sleeping with her head in my lap.
  • The conference went well.
  • My presentations at the conference went well.
  • The three of us went to Navy Pier, a speed boat ride on Lake Michigan, dinner at Bubba Gump, the Hershey Store.
  • Ben and Emily went to Lincoln Park Zoo and to Millenium Park, including the famous “face” fountains.
  • We met my sister “T” for dinner and had a fabulous visit, walking the city – dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe, ice cream (as a prescription no less – “T” is a pediatrician and Em was developing a fever) at Cold Stone Creamery – followed by a trip to Walgreens (have you ever picked out eye drops and OTC fever reducers with your own personal pediatrician standing next to you reading active ingredients? – WAY COOL)
  • We stopped in South Bend on the way home so Ben could get an AUTHENTIC Notre Dame hat/shirt from the campus.  It is a beautiful campus.  Planting seeds for Emily who also got a sweatshirt.
  • The drive was 12 hours each way.
  • It cost $40 a day to park in the city.  We wish we had taken the train.
  • The Knickerbocker Hotel is nice, the rooms are small but the ballrooms/conference rooms are gorgeous.
  • Chicago is one of the few cities I have visited that was truly distinctive in almost every place we went.
  • I have already ordered my prints to do the scrapbook pages.
