Following on the heels of our community’s theologian and historian, with our pop culture expert, pioneer and artist to follow is a bit daunting.  I am a bit onesided to fiction, but it always does feel good to be tagged – so with the same caveat that the Bible really would be the real answer, but for variety’s sake here goes:

 1. One book that changed your life:  Amazing Grace by Jonathon Kozol changed my perspective on the World.  So the Echo by Francine Rivers changed my heart, desire, and perspective on my walk with God.

2.One book that you’ve read more than once:  The only book I have ever read more than once is A Tree grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.  I have read it three times at different stages of my life.  I have read aloud to Em two books I read as a child:  James and the Giant Peach, and A Wrinkle in Time.

3.One book you’d want on a desert island:  The collected works of Shakespeare. (I don’t like to re-read, would need something lengthy and worthy of re-reading that I haven’t read much of. (I have only read Romeo and Juliet and the Merchant of Venice)

4. One book that made you laugh:  The short happy life of Francis Macomber

5. One book that made you cry: A Live Coal in the Sea by Madeline L’Engle – The Last Sin Eater by Francine Rivers.
6. One book that you wish had been written: It sort of has, I am waiting for publication of Rob Hudson-Rummel’s memoirs of life with his special daughter.

7. One book that you wish had never been written:

8. One book you’re currently reading: The Cunning Man by Davies
9. One book you’ve been meaning to read: Celebration of Discipline by Foster

10. Now tag five people: KrisAnne, Kristina, Sheila, Alison, and Krav Mom  (and KMJ for sure if she is still reading, I miss her posting so much)

  1. WHAT??? You mean you didn’t tag me??? LOL!!!!!!!!!! (you know I’m kidding here!!!)

  2. Very interesting! Mmm, now I have to ponder my answers for a future post…

  3. Amanda,

I’ve never been tagged or tagged anyone, so thanks for doing this. As I keep seeing with other lists by friends I know, I haven’t read any of these books (except for maybe half of the Shakespeare). There’s so much to get to.

And I miss KMJ also. Hope she comes back.

  4. okay, I know I’m like a month behind commenting on this post, but I hope you still get notification. Since you mentioned Francine Rivers, I thought you might like to know they are currently making “The Last Sin Eater,” into a full-length movie. I posted about it at It looks like it’s going to be really good!
